The Travel Franchise, a business founded by two entrepreneurs from Liverpool and Bournemouth, has been recognised as the Best Lifestyle Franchise in the world at the 2025 International Franchise Association (IFA) Global Franchise Awards. The company was also named the Best European Franchise at the prestigious ceremony held in Las Vegas.
The IFA, the largest franchise association worldwide, celebrates excellence in the franchise industry. Each year, a distinguished panel of judges—including CEOs, presidents, and global franchise experts—evaluate and select the winners. The Travel Franchise was praised for its innovative business model, which allows individuals with no prior experience in the travel industry to set up their own businesses after just five days of expert training and continuous support.
Co-founded in 2001 by Paul Harrison and Steve Witt, The Travel Franchise has expanded rapidly, now boasting more than 720 members across the UK. In January 2025, the company reported a 35% increase in holiday bookings by its franchisees, further showcasing the business’ growth and success. Over 100 franchisees are projected to achieve sales of £1 million or more in 2025, while many others earn a healthy income. The franchise offers a flexible approach, with part-time franchisees earning £40,000 annually and full-time franchisees making £100,000.
A unique feature of the business is its franchise fee refund scheme, where franchisees can earn their fee back by reaching a set commission target within their first year. Five franchisees achieved this milestone in January alone, illustrating the potential for success within the business.
Paul Harrison, who collected the award in Las Vegas, said: “What started as a dream to give anyone the opportunity to become home-based travel consultants has grown into a multi-million-pound powerhouse. Now, with the IFA’s endorsement, we are recognised as one of the top franchises in the world.”
Harrison emphasised that The Travel Franchise is not just about booking holidays; it’s about offering life-changing opportunities. Many of the company’s franchisees enjoy the flexibility to work from home, on their own terms. Some work full-time, while others operate part-time or alongside other commitments. The business has attracted a diverse range of franchisees, including parents who value the ability to work around family life, those recovering from health setbacks, and individuals seeking an escape from high-stress jobs in sectors like the NHS, teaching, and the City. Retirees and carers have also joined, with many of them using the opportunity to supplement their pensions.
For those interested in learning more about the franchise, The Travel Franchise is hosting a FREE Discovery Day in London on February 27th. Attendees will have the chance to explore the opportunities on offer and meet the team behind the successful business.
In just over two decades, The Travel Franchise has made a remarkable impact on the travel industry and continues to offer aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to create their ideal lifestyle through the power of franchising.
