RSD Group, including its subsidiary RSD Travel Ltd., is set to significantly increase tourism to North Macedonia, with an estimated 35,000 guests expected to visit the country this year. This marks a major development for the Balkan nation as it becomes a key part of RSD Group’s travel offerings.
The announcement of the expanded partnership was celebrated recently when North Macedonia’s Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, met with Christian Funk, owner of Funk-Holding, which operates RSD Group. The meeting underscored the importance of the growing collaboration between the country and the travel group.
Unique Cultural Experiences Await Tourists
Horst Zsifkovits, Managing Director of RSD Deutschland, has already visited North Macedonia and is optimistic about the future of tourism in the region. He described the country as an unspoiled holiday destination, with a warm, welcoming population and a wealth of cultural attractions. “The area is not yet overcrowded with tourists, and visitors can explore impressive Orthodox churches, awe-inspiring icons, and the beautiful city of Ohrid,” he said. “The programme we have developed has been very well received by travellers.”
This cultural appeal, alongside the country’s natural beauty, makes North Macedonia a particularly attractive destination for RSD Group’s diverse clientele. Tourists will be offered immersive study trips and guided tours designed to showcase the country’s rich history and cultural diversity, with a focus on cultural experiences outside the peak tourist season.
Daily Flights to North Macedonia Begin in February 2025
Prime Minister Mickoski expressed optimism during his meeting with Funk, highlighting the positive impact of the new partnership. Beginning in February 2025, a new daily flight service will be launched, connecting North Macedonia with Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, all key markets for RSD Group. The new service will directly contribute to an increase in the country’s foreign overnight stays, which are expected to account for up to 15% of the nation’s current foreign visitor volume.
Christian Funk, owner of Funk-Holding, praised the country’s hospitality and the opportunities provided by this new venture. He added that RSD’s guests will primarily visit during off-peak periods, participating in carefully curated cultural study tours that allow for a deeper appreciation of North Macedonia’s heritage.
A Focus on Quality Travel Experiences
As part of its expanded offerings, RSD Group ensures that its customers experience the highest levels of service. With professional guides and comprehensive care, tourists will enjoy tailored experiences that respect the country’s unique cultural landscape. This commitment to high-quality, culturally sensitive travel has long been a hallmark of the RSD Group’s approach, which combines luxury with an educational aspect for a truly memorable holiday.
With daily flights and an ever-growing programme of tours, North Macedonia is set to become a key player in European tourism, offering unique opportunities for both leisure and educational travel. As RSD Group’s partnership with the Balkan nation grows, the prospects for tourism and cultural exchange look brighter than ever.
