Dubai’s iconic fountain in Downtown Dubai is set to close for a major renovation, with its final show before refurbishment scheduled for 19 April 2025.
Emaar, the developer behind the landmark attraction, confirmed that the temporary closure will allow for a comprehensive restoration aimed at preserving the fountain’s world-renowned synchronised performances of water, light, and music.
Since its inauguration, the Dubai Fountain has become a key symbol of the city’s innovation and ambition, attracting millions of visitors each year with its mesmerising displays. Situated at the foot of the Burj Khalifa, the fountain features jets of water reaching heights of up to 150 metres, choreographed to an array of international and Arabic music.
Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Emaar, emphasised the significance of the renovation in ensuring the fountain retains its status as a global attraction.
“Dubai Fountain stands as a reflection of Dubai’s bold vision and its ability to captivate and inspire on a global scale,” he said.
“This restoration underscores our commitment to maintaining its legacy as a beacon of creativity and excellence. We look forward to welcoming guests back to experience the fountain in all its renewed splendour.”
While the fountain undergoes its scheduled maintenance, Downtown Dubai will continue to offer a range of attractions for visitors. The Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest shopping centres, remains a key draw, alongside panoramic views from the Burj Khalifa and a variety of dining and entertainment experiences.
Emaar has not yet provided an exact date for the fountain’s reopening but has assured the public that the refurbishment will enhance its visual and technical elements, ensuring it remains a centrepiece of Dubai’s cultural landscape.
The Dubai Fountain, designed by the creators of the famous Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas, has been a staple of the city’s tourism scene since 2009. Its performances, which take place daily, have become an integral part of the Downtown Dubai experience, offering visitors a dazzling combination of music, lights, and water choreography.
As anticipation builds for the fountain’s return, tourists and residents alike are expected to flock to its final show on 19 April. The renovation marks a significant milestone in Dubai’s ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance its most beloved landmarks.
