Corona, the world’s most valuable beer brand, has officially opened bookings for Corona Island, an eco-friendly retreat off the coast of Colombia. Once an invite-only destination, the island is now accessible to travellers via major platforms such as Airbnb, Expedia, and Booking.com.
Located 20 kilometres southwest of Cartagena, Corona Island is an exclusive retreat designed to promote environmental conservation. Originally launched in 2021, the island now offers guests an opportunity to disconnect from modern life and reconnect with nature, with accommodation in ten premium waterfront bungalows.
Sustainable Island Retreat
Corona Island has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability. It is the first and only island to receive Oceanic Global’s three-star plastic-free Blue Seal, an award for eliminating single-use plastics and implementing environmentally responsible operations.
The island’s architecture integrates eco-friendly design, using solar energy and sustainable materials such as guadua bamboo. Traditional Colombian building techniques, including bahareque, have been employed to ensure a minimal environmental footprint.
Guests staying on the island will experience all-inclusive dining with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. The menu features regionally inspired cuisine, including baked goods made with native fruits. A selection of Corona beers, including Corona Extra and Corona Cero, is also available.
Immersive Nature-Focused Experiences
Visitors can engage in eco-conscious activities designed to blend relaxation with conservation. These include:
- Yoga, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking to foster a mindful connection with nature.
- Snorkelling to support coral reef restoration and mangrove planting to aid ecosystem reforestation.
According to Clarissa Pantoja, Global Vice President of Corona, the island reflects the brand’s ethos of living in harmony with nature.
“At Corona Island, relaxation meets conservation in a natural beachside setting. As a brand born at the beach and brewed with natural ingredients, we believe our island is a perfect extension of our philosophy,” she said.
With pristine beaches, lush forests, and eco-friendly accommodation, Corona Island is aimed at eco-conscious tourists looking for a sustainable, immersive travel experience.
