Coleg Cambria is set to spring into March with a series of open events aimed at giving prospective students an insight into the wide range of courses, qualifications, and apprenticeships it offers. The college, which boasts over 25,000 full- and part-time learners, will hold several events across its campuses in North East Wales.
The open events will be held at the following locations:
- Deeside and Deeside Sixth: Wednesday, 5th March from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
- Llysfasi: Saturday, 8th March from 10am to 12pm
- Yale and Yale Sixth Wrexham: Wednesday, 12th March from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
- Bersham Road Wrexham: Wednesday, 12th March from 5:30pm to 7:30pm
- Northop: Saturday, 15th March from 10am to 12pm
In addition to these general open events, the college will also host accessible sessions for neurodiverse individuals at each site. These events, which aim to offer a sensory-supportive environment, will take place on the following dates:
- Deeside and Deeside Sixth: Thursday, 13th March from 5pm to 6pm
- Llysfasi: Thursday, 27th March from 5pm to 6pm
- Yale and Yale Sixth Wrexham: Wednesday, 19th March from 5pm to 6pm
- Bersham Road Wrexham: Thursday, 20th March from 5pm to 6pm
- Northop: Wednesday, 26th March from 5pm to 6pm
These events come after the college introduced several new courses in January, including Computer Game Creation, Conversational and Intermediate French and Spanish, Introduction to Makaton, and Eyelash Perming (Lash Lift), alongside hundreds of existing programmes.
Sue Price, Principal of Coleg Cambria, said: “Our open events provide an excellent opportunity for prospective students to learn about the diverse courses available, as well as the support services we offer. With cutting-edge facilities, such as the recently opened £14m Spa and Health Suite at Yale and the £10m agriculture centre in Llysfasi, students can experience the innovative and technology-driven environment we have created.”
Lecturers and staff will be present at the events to discuss the entry requirements, funding options, transport arrangements, bilingual learning opportunities, and much more. Presentations, workshops, and talks will also be held, allowing attendees to engage with the college’s offerings in depth. For those unable to attend in person, 3D virtual tours of each site will be available online.
Price also emphasised the role of the college’s staff in its success: “While our state-of-the-art facilities are impressive, it’s the dedication of our tutors, staff, and Student Voice team that truly sets us apart. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where students can thrive, both academically and personally.”
The college is encouraging all those interested in attending the open events to book in advance to ensure they can make the most of their visit. Price added: “We always see great attendance at our open events, and the response to these sessions has been fantastic. We can’t wait to welcome visitors and show them what life at Coleg Cambria is all about.”
