Chery has officially launched its latest model, the TIGGO 9, in the UAE and Kuwait, marking a significant milestone for the Chinese automaker’s ambitions in the Middle East. The simultaneous launch event, held on December 19, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Ms. Ou Boqian, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate in Dubai, Mr. Wang Xiaojia, Commercial Counsellor, and Mr. Zhang Guibing, General Manager of Chery International. Tim Zhang, General Manager of the Middle East region at Chery International, highlighted the company’s strategic plans for the UAE and GCC markets during the event.
In a striking show of global ambition, the Kuwait Tower and the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai were illuminated on the same day, symbolising Chery’s growing influence on the international automotive stage.
The new TIGGO 9 features an innovative family design, drawing on bionics principles for its front end, which emphasises strength and safety. The vehicle’s body follows the golden ratio, ensuring visual harmony, while the overall design focuses on luxury, safety, and smart technology. Chery is positioning the TIGGO 9 as a model that meets the highest global standards, with the vehicle boasting a five-star safety rating. It is also equipped with the L2+ Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), ensuring enhanced safety for drivers and passengers.
As a testament to its technological capabilities, the TIGGO 9 comes with Automatic Parking Assist (APA), a large HD screen, and high-performance chips, setting a new standard for automotive luxury and innovation. The Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) version combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a three-speed DHT gearbox, providing impressive performance and an outstanding thermal efficiency of up to 44.5%. Meanwhile, the internal combustion engine (ICE) version is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission (8AT), offering an equally exceptional performance.
