Aeromexico has revealed a new bedding kit for its Premier One passengers, marking the latest phase in its ongoing collaboration with London-based Brand Experience Studio, NewTerritory. The Premier One Comfort Kit is a new addition to the airline’s premium offering, designed to enhance passenger experience with a focus on Mexican culture, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
The bedding kit, which will be exclusively available to Premier One passengers, is part of a broader effort to refresh the visual and service design onboard Aeromexico’s aircraft. This is the latest project in NewTerritory’s long-standing relationship with the airline, following their previous redesign of the airline’s cabin interiors to create a more social and engaging in-flight environment.
The new kit features a collection of five premium soft products, each thoughtfully designed to combine both luxury and practicality. The items in the kit are designed to enhance comfort during travel while reflecting the essence of modern Mexican hospitality. These include:
- Mattress Pad: Crafted with sustainable fabrics, this product represents contemporary hospitality design.
- Cotton Pillow: Made from premium materials with a textured finish for added comfort.
- Quilted Blanket: Designed to be adaptable to varying passenger needs, this blanket incorporates recycled materials.
- Reusable Bag: This bag stores all the soft furnishings and includes a dedicated pocket for headphones. The blanket and bag together help repurpose 17 plastic bottles per item, underlining Aeromexico’s commitment to sustainability.
- Premium Headphones: These are designed to provide superior audio quality for an enhanced in-flight experience.
NewTerritory’s founder and director, Luke Miles, expressed pride in the project, highlighting the significance of designing a bedding kit that is both functional and reflective of Mexico’s rich heritage. “Designing a bedding kit that not only enhances comfort but also embodies the essence of Mexico, synonymous with Aeromexico for 90 years, was a significant responsibility. We wanted to create something that felt authentic and that defined modern Mexico,” said Miles.
The design process involved collaborations with renowned Mexican architect Frida Escobedo and designer Concha Orvañanos, ensuring that the bedding kit captured the feel of a modern Mexican home or hotel while prioritising the comfort of passengers. The soft products were developed in partnership with John Horsfall, and premium headphones were provided by Linstol.
Antonio Fernandez Ojeda, Aeromexico’s Vice President of Product and Onboard Services, praised the collaboration, saying: “Working with NewTerritory was a valuable and enriching experience. They deeply understood our culture and heritage, and their approach blended traditional and contemporary craftsmanship, delivering an experience that celebrates both our past and future.”
This launch comes as Aeromexico celebrates its 90th anniversary and recognises its recent achievement as the most on-time airline of 2024. The airline continues to make strides in offering a premium travel experience, with NewTerritory playing a central role in refining the brand’s design across various touchpoints, including its aircraft interiors.
NewTerritory has also worked with other major airlines, such as Delta Air Lines, and aircraft manufacturer Airbus, further cementing its position as a leader in design for the aviation industry.
