A care agency from Colwyn Bay is spreading festive cheer across North Wales after being recognised with a prestigious national award. Enhanced Healthcare, named Health and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year at the British Business Awards, has been visiting local care homes, delivering arts and crafts workshops to hundreds of residents.
The initiative, which includes activities such as Christmas card-making sessions, aims to lift the spirits of residents in care homes across the region while also celebrating the company’s success. These festive workshops, which have already been well-received by residents, are just the beginning of the company’s ongoing efforts to bring joy to the communities they serve.
The recognition at the British Business Awards has solidified Enhanced Healthcare’s position as a leader in the health and social care sector. Since its founding in 2021, the agency has expanded rapidly, with over 170 employees providing temporary staffing solutions to a variety of health and social care services across the region.
Chanel Williams, founder of Enhanced Healthcare, said the award was a reflection of the dedication and compassion of both their support workers and office team. Williams, who was seven months pregnant and recovering from a life-threatening condition when she launched the company, expressed her pride in the team’s achievements.
“To win such a prestigious award is amazing,” Williams said. “It’s a testament to the incredible dedication of our healthcare support workers, and it’s been fantastic to see the joy that our festive workshops have brought to the care homes we work with. It’s truly rewarding to know that we’ve been able to bring some extra Christmas cheer to our partners across North Wales.”
One of the care homes benefiting from the workshops is Glan Rhos Nursing Home in Brynsiencyn, Anglesey. Wendy Rogers, a staff member at the home, praised Enhanced Healthcare’s staff for their enthusiasm and kindness during a recent Christmas card-making session.
“The team were friendly, enthusiastic, and very kind,” said Rogers. “They took the time to engage with every resident, and made sure they all had the chance to create their own cards, even when not everyone was able to make them themselves. It was a truly wonderful experience.”
The collaborative approach to care was also praised at Wynne Crest Care Home in Old Colwyn, where residents enjoyed the yuletide activities that enhanced their hand-eye coordination and social skills.
Angela Peacock, the care home’s manager, noted: “It was not only a fun afternoon, but also beneficial in terms of helping with hand-eye coordination and encouraging social interaction. It was such a positive experience for our residents.”
Brenda Hughes, Scheme Manager at ClwydAlyn’s Hafan Cefni extra care development on Anglesey, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting how the festive session helped kick off the Christmas festivities for residents.
Looking ahead, Enhanced Healthcare is preparing for a recruitment drive in early 2025. In January, the agency will host an open event for prospective care workers, offering an exclusive £250 joining bonus for those who complete 250 hours of work within three months. This is part of the company’s broader strategy to continue growing while maintaining its commitment to high-quality care and support.
Natalie O’Brien, Director of Operations at Enhanced Healthcare, said the success of the festive workshops and the recent award win has given the company a significant boost. “We are thrilled by the positive feedback we’ve received, and it motivates us as we prepare for our recruitment drive in the new year. Our commitment to people – both our team and the residents we support – remains at the heart of everything we do.”
