Zendbox, a Kent-based eCommerce fulfilment provider, has experienced remarkable growth over the past 12 months, increasing its workforce from 20 to 80 employees and expanding its fulfilment centres from one to four. The company’s industry-leading 10pm order cut-off time, eco-conscious approach, and cutting-edge inventory technology enable direct-to-consumer (D2C) merchants to compete with the “Goliaths of eCommerce.”
Providing fulfilment services to high-growth small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and recognised brands like PRIME, USN, Puresport, and fourfive, Zendbox processed more than three million orders in 2023. The firm’s Zendportal software integrates sales channels, including Shopify, eBay, and Amazon, with its virtual warehousing and inventory management systems, helping retailers improve their business efficiency and gain greater oversight of supply chain activities.
James Khoury, CEO and founder of Zendbox, commented: “Amazon’s dominance over the eCommerce market is almost scary. 44% of all product searches, in fact, start with Amazon. While our clients sell on Amazon, they also face strong D2C competition from them. We are proud to be the third-party logistics provider of choice, for retail Davids wanting to take on the Goliaths of eCommerce.”
Khoury emphasised the growing importance of investing in operations, as the eCommerce fulfilment market is forecasted to triple by 2030. He said, “Scaling our operations is essential if we are to seize the opportunities presented by this growth. For our clients, it is vital to invest in technology and operational efficiencies to speed up processing, improve the customer experience, and reduce operational expenses.”
He added, “We store over 100,000 different fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) in our world-class fulfilment centres, which span 500,000 sq ft. Our technology allows us to achieve 99.999% picking accuracy, with 99.7% of orders being processed and dispatched the same day, largely due to our extended 10pm cut-off time. This allows SMEs and established brands to rival Amazon by offering next-day delivery until late in the evening.”
Rob Whitfield, founder of Complete Strength, highlighted the benefit of Zendbox’s later cut-off time, saying: “The majority of our orders come in the evening. When we had an earlier cut-off time, we missed out on sales. Now we’ve got a later cut-off time with Zendbox, we get fewer abandoned carts. We have also noticed customers are shopping with us simply because of the later cut-off time.”
